Our History

For more than seventy years, Hankook Tea has carried forward the heritage of Korean tea culture from the heart of the Honam Tea Estate. Founded on the belief that tea is not merely a beverage but a way to cultivate harmony, clarity, and connection, our history has been shaped by generations dedicated to the art of tea.
Our beginnings trace back to the foothills of the Honam region, where pure water, rich soil, and careful cultivation created the foundation for truly exceptional tea. Over time, traditional practices such as hand-harvesting, slow steaming, and stone-milling were refined and passed down, preserving the natural character and integrity of the leaf.
Through decades of patient craftsmanship, our family and tea masters have upheld the values that define Korean tea: respect for nature, meticulous care, and a sincere spirit of hospitality. These principles continue to guide every step of our process, from the fields to the cup.
Today, the legacy of Honam Tea Estate lives on under the leadership of the next generation. Our tradition is upheld with the same dedication that began over seven decades ago and is carried into the modern era through the expertise of Korea’s first officially recognized Malcha Master.
Rooted in history yet always evolving, Hankook Tea remains committed to sharing the purity, artistry, and quiet joy of Korean tea with the world.
